REI.com has declined from it's prime of 4 years ago. The online store has less selection, worse prices(excepting sales), and poorer shipping policies than speciality climbing retailer like mgear.com, gearexpress.com, bentgate.com, or even altrec.com....

REI is great- good stuff, good prices and the ship to store and return to store means I can buy multiple sizes and then take back what doesn't work because I can never get my kids to actually try on clothes while shopping.

I was extremely happy with the experience. I was most impressed with the direct "chat room" assistance I was able to receive from the customer service rep at the other end (I ordered via internet) when I had questions about the products.

I picked up my order on a used gear sale day. The salespeople gladly pulled the order from the back while I was standing in line to pay. I was also pleasantly surprised to get a "long line discount" for other items I purchased at the sale.

We are always pleased with our shopping on REI.com We were a bit disappointed that the estimated arrival date of the jacket was a Tuesday when we ordered it and then it wasn't available until Saturday. However, that is a minor delay.

i was referred to REI by a link at the site of the manufacturer of the product i was looking for -- Sigg. The overall shopping experience went very well with REI regarding the product i was looking for, the Sigg water bottle especially with how quickly i received the bottle. The only possible negative was that i was not able to purchase all of the Sigg products i wanted but that was likely due to limited supply available from the manufacturer. I didnt elect to use the ship-to-store service only because there is no REI outlet that is that close enough to me to warrant it.
