Best Discount Store on the Web

I don't know why everyone else is complaining about this site. Sierra Trading Post is GREAT. Since working retail myself and dealing with "customers," I've found that the customer is NEVER right and is 9 times out of 10 full of crap. Customers have unfair expectations and always want things "free." If something doesn't happen just the way they expect, which isn't always reasonable, then they want to be compensated. While it would be nice for that happen, it rarely does.
I've ordered 30+ times from STP and recommend them to everyone I know. Not only have things arrived on time, but when I did have issues or problems with an order, the problem was taken care of. Sometimes it wasn't taken care of immediately, but we're all human and I'm sorry, we ALL make mistakes. I've always been taken care of and will continue shopping here forever. Prices are great and there is a very good selection of product. If people want to complain, go shop at Wal-Mart. That's where all the village idiots converge anyway. Leave the good people alone. Sierra Trading Post is a very reliable and good company.

horrible and very frustrating

I ordered a Christmas gift on 12/6/03. Today is 12/19/03 and I have yet to receive it. I called and checked with customer service and they told me that it was shipped parcel post on 12/11/03 and 12/13/03 and that there was no way to track the parcel. I hung up and then became increasingly annoyed, so I called and asked for a supervisor. I related that facts and she again stated that there was no way to track the shipment and that I will probably get it on th 29th!!!!
DO NOT ORDER from Sierra Trading Post.

horrible customer service. Sierra Club has good prices but beware of their customer service. You may not get the discount you were offered. You may then spend 30 minutes intermittently on hold trying to resolve the issue, become angry and fatigued, and finally hang up in frustration. All I can say is buyer beware. Go ahead and order, but just hope you never have a problem because it may never be resolved. My experience was so bad and frustrating that I will NEVER order from them again, in spite of their prices and endless discounts for 20%. The fact is, you may never get the price you were offered!

Misadvertised merchandise; Terrible customer service

I had several problems with Sierra Trading Post
- misadvertised merchandise
- nonresponding customer service department
- weeks-long delay in refund processing
Details:
I ordered two pairs of hiking boots advertised as including "Tecni
Dry"-- Tecnica's equivalent of Gore-Tex. The boots they sent were the
non-Tecni-Dry version (which in fact retail for less than I paid since
I was supposedly buying discounted higher-end boots).
Customer service said they would inquire and get back to me in 2-4
days. After 3 weeks I contacted them again, at which point they said
they had "no information" but they were willing in this case to let me
return the boots.
I sent back the boots. Weeks and weeks passed with no refund or
notification of any sort. Periodic inquiries to customer service were
met with either silence or a seemingly automatic generic reply. In
the end I did receive the refund, but I certainly will never order
from Sierra Trading Post again and I suggest others take their
business elsewhere. The discounts are certainly not worth the risk
that the merchandise is falsely advertised and the subsequent
headaches.

Low Price Product, High Priced Shipping, Slow Delivery

Prices are good but fulfillment stinks. Not like you get a good deal on shipping either $13 for a pair shoes and some socks. I have placed an order 10 days ago and still have not recieved it. This is not the first time this has happened. I got a message it shipped but UPS did not get the package until 4 days latter. Total lie. If you have a lot a patience with shipping then you be fine. I have no patience for businessses that decieve me.

Worst Customer Service In Their Class, PERIOD!!!

I have placed 3 orders with Sierra Trading Post, and all 3 times there was a problem either with the shipping, or the merchandise. Additionally, each time I was resolving the problem I was faced with rude, patronizing supervisors who were making a poor attempt at deescalating the situation with psychology 101 down talk(psycho babble). It was the most belittling experience I have ever dealt with while making a customer service transaction where the merchant had clearly made a mistake. They might have cheap prices, but, you get what you pay for, and that includes SERVICE! I will never order from Sierra Trading Post again!!

Very Good Vendor

I have ordered items several times in the past from this company with positive results. The pricing is excellent, especially in the bargain barn and clearance sections, though selection is limited (what one should expect from a clearing house). A great deal of the merchandise is rather "obscure" to say the least, but they do carry a good many of the familiar name brands. It does take a while for my orders to arrive due to the fact I'm in North Carolina and they are in Wyoming, but all in all they arrive promptly. I have been pleased with everything I have purchased from these folks, even the seconds and irregulars. I am pleased with my experience.

We have purchased well over a hundred items from STP over the past few years, and it has become our favorite discount site for outdoor clothing, men's clothing and shoes. I wear a large shoe size and often find a better selection at this site than anywhere else.
We have never had an order filled inaccurately and delivery speed is well within the time they anticipate. On the few occasions we have returned items, primarily for sizing changes, they have responded promptly and without question.
We are very pleased with STP, order frequently, buy gifts for family and friends from them, and recommend them often.

Placed an order, never received it. One phone call, 5 emails, 2 live chats, and all I get is the run-around. Can't trace order for 21 days, can't replace, can't issue credit. This was for a little $10 order.

I have placed numerous orders with Sierra Trading Post and have been exceptionally satisfied with them. They fairly and promptly resolved problems that occurred very infrequently. (An example of such a problem was receiving in incorrectly sized/mis-tagged item.) Even when I return items because they do not fit due to my own mistake, they still credit the corresponding shipping cost. Sierra Trading Post is one of the few companies that actually does their utmost to ensure customer satisfaction. I highly recommend them!

I'm not even completely sure which order this survey is in reference to, as in the last couple of months we have ordered shoes, luggage and clothes from Sierra Trading Post. I love their site! The deals are as unbeatable as the quality of their merchandise and service.
