Quick Shipment! I was thrilled! Until I went to the store and the $39.96 item that I purchased online had a $10 price tag at the store! Plus, the item showed as "not available in stores" on their website too. so I paid $50.97 for something I could have spent $10.76 on and had the same day. Of course, Home Depot online doesn't price match...so I'm screwed out of $51.00 for a couple of weeks and still have to go back and purchase the item for $10.00 at the store. GRRRR

I had a nightmare with Home Depot. I made a purchase of a Lawn Tractor & Snow thrower attachment. It took me two months to get it operational. Most of the poeple I talked to didn't have a clue. I would only buy basic, off the shelf items. Special orders are a nightmare. Stay away!

I didn't receive an order confirmation. I ended up double ordering weeks later. Returned my first item, and dealing with customer service has been a complete nightmare. I am on hold every time I call for at least 45min. And 2 weeks after receiving the item back, they still have not credited my card. This is the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with!
I recently bought a dishwasher at homedepot.com. One week after it was installed the priced had gone down $70, and the customer service folks in my local store refunded the entire amount! The install guys were great, the dishwasher works great, and they care about their customers.
DON'T BUY APPLIANCES FROM HOME DEPOT unless you can bring them home and install them yourself.
Home Depot takes no responsibility for the delivery and installation of your purchase.
They contract out to a GE delivery service who then sub contracts to local businesses.
The customer has no idea who is going to enter their home. The installer may have little or no training (one guy brought his 8-10 y/o to help) and limited knowledge of the equipment.
I was forced to return a dishwasher when the delivery person refused to install it. He gave me a lengthy explanation about how all dishwashers of this brand needed a special outlet, which I have learned was BS. (I checked with the manufacturer, too.) Apparently, they get paid by delivery, whether the stuff leaves the truck or not.
The manager at Home Depot was totally unconcerned. His response was, "Isn't that terrible? It happens all the time. We have no control over delivery and installation."
I must add that my appliance was not purchased online, but from a local store.
The policies regarding delivery and installation are the same for both points of purchase. Home Depot corporate has confirmed this,reluctantly.

Worst store I ever did business with. Their gift policy redemption is short of highway robbery. Gift cards can only be used in their local store and if they don't have your item they will not honor gift cards on the internet although that is the only place you can locate the items you are looking at Home Depot. Would recommend that using Lowe's is far better and they do honor gift cards on internet purchases.
What a mess. First, placing the order was a nightmare--the cart kept reverting to zero. THEN the order was suspended because there was a comma in the address line, which skewed the match with the credit card address. (Why did the site accept it that way?) THEN I received the wrong item. THEN after nearly an hour in phone call hell, I was told someone from shipping would contact me within 3 days. THEN nobody did. THEN I called again and went through same routine and asked for a supervisor. THEN I received the correct shipment but was BILLED again, with no shipping label to return the original shipment. THEN I was told that they don't DO that, I was to wait for UPS to contact me to pick UP the wrong order. Well, who among us can take time off work to wait for a delivery guy? If you live in a city and can't place it outside for pickup, you're SOL? I've wasted HOURS of my time on this, and have spoken to 6 different people, the last told me I've been credited--but I'm afraid to look...

The 2 small items that I ordered arrived within the time frame quoted and were not damaged. My only complaint is that the shipper used cheap tape to seal the box. By the time I received it, the box was barely closed. Also, the individual items were not packed securely. Fortunately, they were both packaged well by the manufacturer.
Although I'm happy with my purchase, after reading so many horrendous reviews of Home Depot Online, I consider myself lucky and would probably not buy from them again.

I purchased a patio set and a chaise lounge from homedepot.com, the lounge was lost, and the patio set was delivered damaged 2-1/2 months ago, they still have not mailed me the necessary label so I can return the item. I not only had to pay for a damaged set to avoid finance charges, I am storing their damaged furniture in my garage while my vehicle sits on the street with winter time approaching. Every time I call, over a dozen times now, they assure me that the return label will be mailed to me and will take 7-10 business days, like I said it is over 2-1/2 months now. I do not understand how homedepot.com can still operate when I have read tons of reviews with the same complaint as mine!!

Wow. I read most of the reviews before ordering online thinking none of these nightmare scenarios could happen to me.
Well, it did.
I placed my order with no problems. Under the item it said normal delivery is in 5-7 business days. I wait 10 business days just to be safe before calling. I call and they say the item IS in stock and the warehouse is still processing the order. A couple days later I check the status online. Lo and behold the "order has been cancelled." But not by me. I call and have the order reinstated.
Long story short, it's been six-plus weeks and the item isn't on my doorstep. There's absolutely no recourse for the online customer service, so why should they try to solve your problem.
Avoid the problem altogether and SHOP ELSEWHERE!!!

Home Depot definitely is convenient in terms of it's many locations and hours of operation. It's also likely that you can find what you need there. I have found exactly what I need 95% of the time and I have spent over $15,000 there in the last 5 years. The quality of the products found are pretty good for the most part, though the framing lumber is sometimes questionable. The prices are great too and there is always some type of sale or coupon available. The staff always seem to try to be VERY helpful, but it's obvious in the stores that I have been too that they are always understaffed. Sometimes I will wander around just looking for someone and if I find them, will they be an expert in what I am looking for? I can't stand waiting around for them to page someone who is on lunch who is the ONLY person available that knows about what I need help with. It seems a little ridiculous. I wish they would consider staffing their stores better as there are CONSTANTLY people in there that need serious guidance, whether it be simple of that of an expert.

I ordered 382.00 worth of patio furniture cushions 3 months ago, and I'm still waiting for a refund! Ordering was easy and delivery was quick, but I was disappointed with the quality of the cushions and the way they fit the furniture. I was told that the 2 huge boxes of cushions would be picked up in 7 to 10 days. I made 4 phone calls (one to the local Home Depot store manager) and waited 5 weeks before the cushions were picked up for return. Now it's been another 6 weeks since the cushions were returned and 3 more phone calls but still no credit. Each time that I called, I dealt with a different associate with a different story. I've ordered from many on-line stores, and I have never had so much trouble returning an item before. I'd never buy from HomeDepot.com again.

Ordered patio furniture online over 2 weeks ago, have yet to receive a shipping confirmation. Delivery was suppose to be 5-7 days! I have called customer service several times and emailed them. I have been promised return emails twice now, but got nothing. I should have known better than to trust a 'big box' store, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They tell you enough to get you off the phone, but don't do a thing they promise! I will not shop online, nor in the stores anymore.

I have never been treated more poorly in my life. It was almost as though it was a contest who could be less helpful. I spoke with approximately 10 Home Depot employees over the course of a month trying to solve my problem with them and they consistently promised to help and then didn't. I think each and every one of them said they would help just to get rid of me and then tore up their notes and threw them away completely ignoring their promise. Unbelievable. I will NEVER shop there again!!!!!!

Ordered a hot water heater through their 800 "installation services" line. Was told that the installer would figure what I needed to do to come up to code when they came out. He figured 660.00 over and above the H/W heater itself. I was under the impression that I could accept or reject the quote, so I declined. Later Home Depot issued a credit to my card but minus a $75 trip charge. I knew what needed to be done for code because I got a quote from a local plumber FOR FREE, and I could have answered any questions about what I needed, but NO, they had to have someone come out for $75.
I got a Bradford and White H/W heater installed and with all the code upgrades for $775. Home Depot and ARS wanted $1,311. I'm out $75, for the "inspection" but I learned a valuable lesson about Home Depot and their installation services. I will never use someone who can't give me a firm quote over the phone or a free quote in person again.
Shipping was almost as much as the item. It was a heavy item, but I wish that the shipping costs had not been so extreme. The item itself was very nice. My thanks to HD. Read more

When I first shopped at Home Depot several years ago, I'd receive the goods in a few days. In the last year or so, I receive the goods in ten or more days. I'd say that's quite poor order fulfillment. Read more

On June 14, I ordered a ceiling fan. Today is July 24 and I have yet to receive my fan. After spending hours on the phone and online, I have gotten no where. The customer service people are uninterested in assisting and I cannot get a definitive answer from any of them. Today I spoke with one person who said she would transfer me to a different dept. and after being on hold for almost another half hour I was given to someone who could barely speak English. I'm not even sure what she said; the best I could understand was even though I received a shipping confirmation on 6/28, it may have been shipped out then or either a replacement was sent out on 7/13 or it was never sent out until 7/13 in the first place. I was unable to ever get anyone to give me a UPS tracking number so I could track it myself or even to admit that perhaps it was lost. I just threw up my hands and said, cancel this order, but apparently you cannot cancel if they think it has been mailed out and if they think it has been mailed out, your charge account has been charged. Here I sit with no ceiling fan, with one possibly two shipped and one possible two charged on my account. Did I mention that although I order at least once a week online, this is my first and certainly my last order to be placed with Home Depot. Read more

I was sent 2 of the same product- I only wanted one. I am still waiting for UPS to bring me a return slip so I can return the extra one and get a credit. I should have been issued a credit right away. It was not my fault that the order went in twice. It looked like they were double checking on line to see if I really wanted to order the product. Still waiting for the shipment. My response may be completely different when I get the merchandize. It was on back order but have not heard from Home Depot and do not have patio furniture. The worse expereince of my life! NEVER Again! Ya'll need serious help! Hold time was "expected" to be over an hour and when I finally did get through your customer service rep said my planter's that should have been shipped in 3-7 day in time for Mother's Day- "oop's we ran out and just haven't had a chance to send the email stating it was going to be 8-10 weeks!" WHAT!
