The Vacuum Center is an on-line merchant of vacuum cleaners. While they appear to have a wide variety of vacuums (over 35 brands), from Miele to Dyson, as well as more "standard" vacuums, such as Hoover and Dirt Devil, their prices are outrageous.

This is a horrible company - use extreme caution before doing business with them. On 5/6/04 I ordered a vacuum from them for $190, and paid through Paypal. I didn't receive any tracking information from them - their "live tracking" on the site is a joke, so I emailed on 5/9/04 and asked if they shipped the product. I received no response to the email. On 5/18/04 I emailed them again, and this time I received a reply saying that they were out of stock, and they "might" get the vacuum in a week or two. I emailed back asking them to cancel the order no 5/18/04, and received no response. On 5/19/04, I filed a complaint with Paypal, and someone from the company emailed and said I needed to "read their policy" and that they were "well within the 9 days they have to ship the order." I again asked to cancel the order and refund my money, and have not received a response. On 5/20/04 I filed a complaint with their local Better Business Bureau. I plan to file a complaint with the TN Attorney General next.
Stay away!
Update: 5/24/04. The company refunded my money today.

I ordered a vacuum and received it quickly, it is an excellent machine and The Vacuum Center had the best price I could find. Aaron a customer service rep answered all my questions and recommend it. I am extremely pleased with my vacuum and the quick service received.

I placed an order on Oct. 16 which was immediately charged to my credit card. On Nov. 9, I sent a follow-up email because I hadn't received the order. On Nov. 10, I received the response "we lost your order and are shipping a new one." I got the tracking information and checked the USPS status on Nov. 12 - nothing had shipped. I contacted them again and was told that they were waiting for the charcoal filters, now had them, and were shipping the complete order. I received the PARTIAL order on Nov. 17 with a note that the charcoal filters were expected to ship on Friday. It's now Nov. 29 and I still haven't received the charcoal filters so I just sent yet another email to follow up. I will never purchase from nor recommend The Vacuum Center to anyone! Way too much work on my part to get a few filters! Also, their on-line tracking system is a joke and when I called their phone number, I simply got a recording that said, "Thank you for calling" then disconnected me!

BEWARE this merchant! I ordered a hand vac, and they were very slow to ship it. Then when it arrived, they had shipped the wrong model! When I contacted them, they LIED and said that I had approved the substitution. I asked them to send me a prepaid shipping label so I could return it, and so far they have refused. That was over 2 months ago! I refuse to pay return shipping on an item I did not order, so I recently contacted my credit card company to contest the charge. I am going to contact the Better Business Bureau to report this unethical company. My advice is to STAY AWAY from this merchant!!!

I placed a simple bag, belt, and fill tube order for my Kirby vacuum. The Vacuum Center shipped the wrong fill tube. I tried to contact them by phone, but I could never get past their voice mail system and they would not return my messages. Next I tried to e-mail them, again with no response. Finally, after several weeks they e-mail responded, but refused to believe they sent the wrong fill tube or that Kirby even made two styles. After three e-mail attempts and a promise to turn them into the Better Business Bureau, George with The Vacuum Center, agreed to look at his own page to believe they had both fill tubes for sale.
