Deceptive "rebate" bait and switch techniques

This store is using rebates to increase sales, then not paying the rebates. I tried numerous times to resolve without success. They sent emails saying essentially "the check is in the mail" but it never arrived.

I'm convinced Tiger Direct has learned how to fool people like me into buying their goods on a "rebate" basis. I'll never buy another product from them and expect within 5 years to see their name in the papers hauled into a class action lawsuit.

Tiger Direct is not a company you want to deal with.

I placed an order for two items, a scanner and an camera. I paid for 2 day shipping, and after I placed the order the website said, it is coming from Drop shipper, and delivery will be 7-10 days. I called customer service, and they said they would call me back with an update on service, never did. It is now 14 days, no delivery. When I called customer service again, they said it should be here by the end of the week. I said could I cancel my order, and Miguel said no problem. He said he cancelled it, but now, I doubt he really cancelled the order. He would not give me any authorization number. I was also charged for 2 day delivery, over $70, I would when that refund is coming back. I am very upset, and customer service is greatly lacking there. I will not do business with them again!

Very unreliable on an overnight shipment - try Electrified instead

Needed an XD300U projector overnighted for a presentation the following week. They claimed to have it available to ship and insisted that a drop shipper shipped it overnight. I insisted on a tracking number, but they became increasingly agitated and non-cooperative over a 3-day period. I canceled the order on the 3rd day later with no product delivered to-date. Found out the drop shipper was the manufacturer's distribution center which I already knew had no stock and did not know when stock would be available from Japan. Both sales and purchasing were involved in this incident, so I believe it is a systemic problem. I found 30 units in stock at a lower price at Electrified.com and had a very professional experience with them.

Most terrible online shopping experience of my life. My order was constantly on backorder even after in-stock was confirmed over the phone -- twice. I eventually had to cancel my order because I lost all respect for this company. NEVER shop here. I know I never will.

Wrong item shipped - twice in a row.

We placed an order for 3 items - a KVM cable and 2 sticks of memory.

The memory was fine, but the cable received was not the one ordered - it was, in fact, a lower priced one that is not even listed on their site.

We returned it, and they shipped out a new cable...again, a different cable than the one ordered, and even lower priced than the first one received.

The first time we called, they apologized, the 2nd time they didn't. It took me 4 phone calls (after the 2nd wrong item was received) before I was remotely satisfied.

We ordered a cable from another company - a superior product - for less money after shipping costs and the rebate we would have received for the Tigerdirect item.

The DVD burner I bought from Tiger Direct failed during its one year warranty. The company (Optiarc) gave me authorization to have it replaced by Tiger Direct. I never before had anything lost in the mail. Tiger direct lost the DVD burner and refuse to replace the bad one. I'll never buy anything from them again.

The site has a very attractive link about "Open Box Items" in which they advertize that when a customer returns something in an open box, they just mark it down considerably.

Well, I found out the hard way this is not true!! They just won't accept a return on an open box. Pure false advertising and a rip off, stay away from this store.

Mixed, and getting worse

My first and last experience was a mixed one. I ordered 3 items, a barebones kit, memory and a processor. All the items were reported to be in stock on their website. I found out the next day that the processor was on back order. After contacting them by phone, I was told that the cpu was, in fact on hand and would be shipped that day along with the rest of the order. Later that same day, I received a response to an email that stated the processor would ship in 7-14 days! I had paid for 2nd day shipping on these items and decided to cancel the processor. (The other items had already shipped and did arrive in fine shape.) I asked that my money be refunded to my PayPal account. They said that would not be a problem. 9 days and 5 calls later my money still has not been refunded. Best advice? Make sure by phone that the items are in stock or better yet just go somewhere else!

Watch out for advertised rebates!

Twice I have ordered products from Tiger Direct in large part due to the advertised bottom line price, which in both cases included manufacturers rebate (small print). In both cases I never received the rebates, despite having filled out and submitted the proper paperwork. When contacting Tiger Direct they were not willing to assist, saying a)it sometimes takes months for the rebates to come (it's been 4 months already), b) it's a manufacturer rebate, not a Tiger Direct rebate. There's something fishy here, and I won't order again from them when the price they are advertising includes a rebate. Otherwise the products were delivered in a timely fashion, and no other problems.

•••• TIGERDIRECT IS A SCAM !!!!!!! •••• Do not order from this company, after sending me a pre-returned BROKEN machine they stole all the component at the return desk, LIKE PIRATES!!!!!!!! Then refused to replace any of the products. I was informed to send it all back only to have it "Stripped down by the warehouse personnel, who take the stuff HOME!" Those words came directly from their operator.

I got what I ordered at the price on the web - no problems. the order was delivered promptly - no problems.  I would do business with them again.  I ordered an Epson 1400 printer - price was some $40 cheaper than other places.

I got a flat panel and a wireless keyboard. They shipped it right out and everything arrived in good shape. I sort of expected the two things to arrive in one large box but both boxes arrived the same day UPS. After much searching, including after my purchase, I still couldn't find a better price from a highly-trusted online vendor. This was my second purchase from Tiger Direct and I'm sure I'll buy again.

first time I checked the status of my order it said " item on hold, pending customer contatct" or something simular and then there 1-888 number . I called and was put on hold for 10-15 min, then I was hung-up on and had to re-dail the number and was put on hold again for 10-15 mins. I talked to the customer rep and the only thing he could tell me was the item was not picked yet. Now I used checkfree to pay with and I could see from my account info that tiger direct had already recieved money from my account. so I dont know what the hold was for? I also remember something on the check-out page that said" We do not charge your credit card until your order is shipped." Now I know checkfree is not a credit card but tiger direct can remove the money from my account just a easily as a credit card, so why remove it before the product is shipped? Now when I check the status of my order it says it is all back ordered. If I had known it was back ordered I would have gone with another product, but it said in stock so I purchaced it. Now it says shipps in 7- 21 days. I am deeply disapointed with tiger direct and will not likly use them again in the future.

They have the Best products at the Best prices anywhere and I have used them for all my Pc Purchases! Rebates are timely and products and services are excellent! I would recommend no other than TigerDirect.com! I feel safe and secure with this company and they have never let me down in product or service!

The rebate procedures are so complicated as to be suspect whether they really intend for the rebate to be processed. Almost so difficult that you are meant to be fail and be denied. Needs to be made much simpler (as with Staples).
