Bad, feel cheated
by inkyslay ,Jun 29 '09
Poor customer service. Poor membership policies.
Joined as part of some online promoton end of May. I was not able to use their site. When I saw the charge on my credit card the end of June, I called to get a refund, even though I thought I had already cancelled a few days after joining.
After being transfered two times, the third person, Jenny, refused to issue me a refund. Wasted 18 bucks and 15 minutes. She said I was too late. She said she would prorate the upcoming charges so not only did I feel duped, but double duped for more charges on something I can't use.
Left me feeling cheated. To be fair, the first 2 customer service folks were nice and one even said he was not the one to issue refunds. Guess no one is...

I love the service. It saves me so much time and effort of going down to the post office every day. I highly recommend it for its functionality and ease of use.

Stamps.NOT
by miss_poppy ,Jun 14 '04
I've been using Stamps.com for 2 or 3 years, as I'm an online retailer. Their service has really, REALLY, gone downhill. It times out all the time. I'll have to Control-Alt-Del to crash their program and restart several times per session. When I called to complain I was on hold for 54 minutes and then they blamed me, actually starting to tell me, "You see, the Internet is like a kitchen water faucet..." I told them to transfer me to tech support, and didn't do much better there. NOTHING is ever their fault.
I'm thinking of transferring to Pitney Bowes, or some other service. Wish the USPS would get their interface together.
Really, now it's Stamps.NOT.

Works for me
by dsmweather ,Mar 19 '07
I have been using them for 2 years now and I am satisfied with their service and product.
All my mail get through. The product has a low learning curve which like that commercial .."even a caveman can do it"
Customer service - excellent every time I have needed it.
Wish: the ability to use the postage off line rather than on their server. oh well.
Ignore the naysayers..

Horrible! Don't do it!
by dianaschlott ,Jun 28 '07
I signed up for the service and immediately received the package of information, but the stamps were too big for my needs. Customer Service non-responsive and then inflexible. Paid $48.00 over 3 months for nothing!

Free Trial Offer VERY Misleading - AVOID
by rzewdad ,Aug 14 '07
I had an extremely unfavorable experience with Stamps.com.
I signed up for what I was led to believe was Stamps.com's free one month trial period on June 26th. After looking over their product offering, I decided I did not want to continue with the service, so I called on July 26th to cancel the service. I was told at the time that the trial period was not one month, but instead 28 days, which I had just missed, and that I would be billed for the new month $15.99. I accepted this as misleading, but acceptable and resigned to pay the one month charge.
Later, when I checked my bank statement, I noticed not one but two monthly charges for $15.99. When I called back, their customer support representative informed me that the trial was not a free trial, but a "risk free" trial, meaning that if the service is not canceled in the "month" (read: 28 days) the initial month is billed as well.
I feel that Stamps.com's Free Trial Terms are extremely misleading, and they should be avoided.

by teddy77777 ,Mar 12 '09
This place is a scam. Do not sign up with them. They will make you false offers that they will never live up to. I tired to contact thier support for a week without a single response. This place is horrible. Stay away.

Terrible
by brianholmes3 ,Apr 02 '09
DON'T USE STAMPS.COM if you just send mail occasionally. They do offer a free trial period, but I for one had no idea I was signing up for an $18-a-month membership when I signed up. (I'm usually pretty savvy to things like this, too.) Their customer service is not helpful. The woman I spoke to was rude, at best, and pretty much laughed at me when I asked for a refund, explaining that stamps.com was "like a gym membership." Yeah, except that it's not. I used two stamps, and paid $36 for the privelege. Thanks a lot.

First Class Weasels
by toddddddd ,Mar 12 '09
Stamps.com reminds me of several online and anti-virus sevices. They make it as hard as possible to terminate membership. Also, they do not follow through with many of there so-called bonuses, so you have to spend extra time and effort following up on them. I classify Stamps.com as first class weasels.

Bad, unprofessional
by hadjohari ,Mar 31 '08
I went on the trial for stamps.com.
Bad idea. You only get $5 stamps to try. The rest you need to pay, even with the $80 free stuffs promised.
Then, the package I sent using stamps.com stamp got lost in the mail.
On top of it, I cancelled the account late, and I got charged prorated amount. Other vendors like Amazon Prime would have waived the whole amount. After all, I didn't use the account, except 1 bad experience above.

The little person that got taken advantage of.
by thesanderclan ,Oct 25 '04
Stamps.com is a rip off unless you ship in high volume. I only ship 5 - 10 packages a week. My customer service experience was awful. Got the run around everywhere I went over a measly $15.99. Term & Conditions are contradictory. Watch out! Safest bet is to just use USPS web site or UPS site, unless you ship high volume and live 25 miles from the post office. The trial period is NOT FREE - you will be charged even if you cancel a day late. Stamps.com doesnt care that life happens and you couldnt cancel on day 29 - I had to cancel on day 30 and was charged 15.99 for my NO-Risk Trial Period, and I did not receive any promotional items. What a total dissapointment! I absolutelty do not recommend, not even to a business.

Nightmare!!!
by sbfbb ,Jun 02 '08
Cute idea - nightmare experience! They sent the wrong stamps - twice. OK, it can happen, but getting them to refund my money was another story. I have made far too many calls with LONG wait times and confused customer service agents...may just give up - but wait - is that what they want? Complete aggravation - don't bother with this company!!!

Consumer Warning About Stamps.com
by jdaigle ,Jan 14 '08
I used the free service Stamps.com offered for about a year. Then, without warning, I started to receive monthly service fees of about $32. I don't know how my account changed to a monthly service fee account that I never intended to have. Now it has cost me about $90 in monthly service fees, numerous e-mails, three phone calls and about about 1.5 hours of my time trying to cancel the account. I thought AOL back in the 90s was bad about this, but Stamps.com seems to have perfected the art of making it impossible to cancel an account. It's too bad they are practicing these types of unfriendly customer service techniques. It's a good idea. I'd probably still be a customer if they were more ethical and consumer friendly!

Bad Service, unprofessional company
by hubertsamm ,Jan 12 '04
Very disappointed with stamps.com. Too many times their servers were unreachable, called customer service and had to wait 40+ minutes on phone to talk to someone so that I could cancel my account.... not a way to run a business. I switched to Pitney.

I was deceived by Stamps.com
by kali0109 ,Aug 03 '09
I am writing to warn everyone about Stamps.com. I ordered a sheet of personalized stamps through the service for $18.99. I was reluctant to pay for this in the first place, as a book of regular 42 cent stamps would cost less than $10.00 Unknowingly, I inadvertently signed up for a Stamps.com account that charged my credit card each month, and found out when I review my credit card statements. I feel very deceived by Stamps.com, as I thought after reading everything that I was supposed to sign up for an account in order to buy the sheet of personalized stamps. When I called Stamps.com concerning my account and asking for a refund, I was not granted a refund, and found out that I will be charged for next month as well. This poor customer service is another reason I would warn anyone not to use the Stamps.com service.
