This company is difficult to deal with.
by mamabear359 ,Sep 05 '06
Be careful before signing up with this company. I never received their postage meter and I was not able to download the postage. They do not respond to your emails for help, and their phone support customer service is horrible! If you try to cancel their service they continue to charge you. Do not get involved with this company!

"Free" offer not free
by kaiyanzhao ,Jul 08 '06
Deceptive marketing. I signed up for a "free" offer and they billed my credit card for $61.64. I cancelled immediately, but they claimed that they could not stop the processing and charged me shipping and handling.

Bad customer service. Defective "free" weight scale.
by pockysticks ,Jul 24 '06
The postage system was okay -- not the easiest to use and I'd like to think I'm pretty computer literate. What gets me though is their gimmick to real you in with a "free weight scale" when you sign up. I mean that's really how the whole print at home would be more convenient and cheaper -- but their cheap scale doesn't measure packages accurately! It makes you pay waaaaaay more than what the package weighs! HOW SNEAKY!!! After a few weeks I started thinking I was spending a lot on postage but I wasn't mailing more items. So I put a 0.08oz package on it (I checked on three different scales to be sure) and when I use Stamps.com's scale, the package showed up as 1.8oz.!!! I was wasting so much money! I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND using Stamps.com unless you want to be ripped off.

Not worth the trouble
by irusoh1 ,May 11 '07
I can describe my experience as less than average. Constant connection problems. Conflicts with firewall security, etc. First Software upgrade deleted my address book. Next software upgrade (6.2) was not working at all. That was the end of it, I cancelled my service, they immediately charged me twice, once for last month and once for current month even though I called them right on the start of new period, they charged me for the full month I didn't use. On the other hand to get my postage deposit I have to wait for a check for 4-6 weeks.
The only thing that I can't do for free with USPS and Paypal is printing envelops with postage and stamps. In my opinion this is not worth the trouble and frustration having to constantly deal with hitches and hiccups of the software they provide.
All in all the service is not worth it, paying $15.99, when you can get the same thing for free from USPS or Paypal.

Stamps.com stole money from my bank account, wouldnt refund balance, worst experience ever!
by jojo1969 ,Feb 23 '05
Had two accounts open, the second one was cancelled and they continued to charge me. They refused to refund my money for the months they charged my account without my permission so i had to contact my bank for help. My bank initiated a chargeback for two months in which stamps.com drew money out of my account. When stamps.com found out about the chargeback they cancelled BOTH accounts. The one i use on a daily basis, which had a balance of $78 worth of postage. They refused to let me use my postage or refund me for the unused postage. They stated that if i wanted that postage refunded i would need to pay stamps.com for the amount of the chargeback, which they stole from my bank account in the first place.
Stamps.com is a bunch of unruly, unethical thieves. Why pay these thieves $15/mo, in addition to postage, when you can buy your postage at the post office with no extra fees.

A ripoff!
by smercer1101 ,Jan 05 '08
I, too, went for the trial period with Stamps.com and never received the scale and other items offered. I did not ever use the service and cancelled via a link on their website marked "cancel"! When my credit card continued to be charged, I called the number and was informed that I couldn't cancel via the link marked "cancel" and needed to call to implement the termination. It cost me an additional $15.99 to cancel and when I complained to Customer Service, got a "too bad" email. I would never recommend this service.

shocked at being billed unknowingly
by nuttea78 ,Mar 16 '07
beware of stamps.com. they do not clearly tell you how long your trial period is when you install their software for free stamps, they do not clearly state their charges for their service and subsequently even bill you for another cycle when you cancel. their software was terrible and difficult to use. I was charged for installing a software that I couldnt even use and didnt know I was being charged for the service.

Stamps.com is a major headache. Customer/tech service is terrible. Service is overpriced and much of it is available free elsewhere.

Use anything but Stamps.com services!
by bob45cameron ,Aug 31 '06
Hello,
Just like the others on this review have said, Don't fall for it! The 4 week trial is a way for them to bill you so that you cannot dispute the transaction with them. They are very slow to answer their phones if you call. They keep referring to the Terms and Conditions for billing you for the month. Save your money and don't buy from them!

AWFUL AWFUL TERRIBLE ! ! !
by ladysoundman ,Feb 13 '08
I send back my postage my postage meter and signed up for Stamps.com. I placed a $200 order for supplies and printer toner. It took OVER 3 WEEKS for my order to arrive. Every time I try to get on Stamps.com server, I get a gazillion JavaScript errors and it takes 3 or 4 tries and 5-15 minutes to get on their server. I had to buy an extra toner since my printer toner did not arrive. I told my son about it and he said they also cheated him out of $150 and threatened to sue him when he charged back items they never shipped. Pitney Bowes will take you for all you are worth - but at least you do get to ship your orders. Stamps.com is USELESS ! ! ! !

Unethical company, stay away from stamps.com
by kgvenkatesh ,Dec 10 '09
I signed up at stamps.com because they appeared to offer so many freebies and I thought it'd be a good investment. But soon I realized this service was not worth the money, so tried to call them to cancel. Note their policy says you need to call for cancellation (but to open account you would not need to). Their phone hours are extremely limited M-F 9am-9pm and wait times are really long (>20 minutes each time I called). I could not reach a person in spite of 30 min wait so I emailed with my phone number, user id etc asking them to cancel and not charge my credit card. Now, 2 months have gone by and still I keep seeing their charge of $15.99 on my card. I finally got hold of a rep today on phone and they are bent on not taking the chargeoff. They state "its our policy" crap. Extremely unethical company. Please beware.

A very unpleasant experience. No customer service.
by smullster ,Aug 09 '05
I used to think that Stamps.com was a good thing, but over the past 6 months it has turned into a nightmare.
It all started when I switched my computer from Windows to a MAC. Stamps.com didn't work with the MAC and so I decided to cancel my account.
Problem was that I couldn't get in touch with their customer service. I've called numerous times and have been caught in phone tree purgatory; waiting over 40 minutes each time before giving up.
I've emailed them numerous times to cancel the account, but they won't cancel it through email... you have to call.
Luckily my credit card expired and they cannot automatically take their $15.99 service fee. They are still charging me. Just this evening I tried calling again to cancel the account, but ended up waiting for 55 minutes before hanging up in frustration.
They used to be a good company, but customer service has gone out the window. They are beligerent, rude, and unhelpful. Your money can be put to better use than wasting time trying to get your issues resolved.

A disaster
by frustrated234 ,Aug 21 '06
My experience with stamps.com's customer service has been a nightmare. They took more money out of my account than they were supposed to over 4 weeks ago. As of this date, I still have not received the money back into the account. For the first 2 weeks they were telling me that the money had been put into my account (despite the fact that I had been telling them otherwise), and it wasn't until I confronted them with the fact that the bank said they hadn't received the electronic credit that the story changed. Then I was told that they were having problems with their software, and it would be the end of the following week before it would be fixed (this was 2 and 1/2 weeks ago). I still have yet to receive the money. As a soon-to-be former long-time customer I am shocked with the contempt that they treat their customers with.
