Run like the plague from Travelocity

Travelocity is great 95% of the time. Its just that 5% that KILLS you and leaves you to rot.

I now have a strategy I use when doing any commerce on-line. I begin by calling customer service as if I had a product with a problem. That way you get a good idea of who is gonna save your butt and who wont. The short answer: the airlines and local travel agencies will come through (though very painfully sometimes), TRAVELOCITY WILL NOT.

I will spare you the rant about my unhappy experiences (yes, I should have learned the first time) but suffice it to say that if you have a probem, you can exepct this from Travelocity:
1. delayed or no response to your email to customer service
2. telephone lines to the same so busy that they wont even allow you to sit on hold
3. if you are on hold it will be a good hour until you get to someone who will then transfer you to the correct department.

I shopped the Internet all over this Cyber world looking for the great deals to Vegas and I kept coming back to Travelocity they had the best rates for Flying and the best pick of Hotels over and above everything I was looking at. You can see everything for what it is. Actual pictures of the Hotels with descriptions and a starting price from and to. They also had a rating system on what kind of accommodations were available from 3 star to 5 star Hotels. I Highly recommend this site for all your travel needs and I will continue to use Travelocity and never look at the other again.

I used travelocity to book a recent trip to Las Vegas with my cousin. We neglected to get the travel protection plan because we thought we wouldn't need it. Well unfortunately, my cousin had a death in the family and funeral plans/schedules were conflicting with our already booked trip.

Travelocity wasn't trying to hear our plea for a refund or date change. We paid about $980 for the trip (together) and they expected us to pay a closer amount for a refund of date change. Luckily, the funeral date was changed and we were able to go on the trip afterall.

Advise- Get travel protection plan just in case.

I'll preface my rant by saying one thing about Travelocity: Stop spending money on the gnome ads and spend some money on your customer care!

Simply put, I called the general 800 number to change a reservation. I waited for 44 minutes on hold to speak to "Sam". However, because I am a "VIP", Sam couldn't make a change to my reservation (or so he told me). So he 'transfers' me to the VIP department and that's where the fun starts. I was on hold for 2:15 mins before I put the call on speaker-phone, and called the general 800 number to get 'regular customer care'. Thankfully, Andrea (of course, it's not her real name since she's Indian) was able to help me out after placing me on hold for about 15 more minutes. Thankfully, I got to someone competent. However, as a whole, competence is NOT something Travelocity has in abundance.

I can't imagine if I was calling in from outside the US.

Totally unacceptable. I've NEVER been placed on hold for so long in my life. People get fired for actions like this when call-centers used to be in the US.

I made the mistake of going into travelocity.uk and did not notice that I was purchasing a ticket in British pounds until I received my credit card charges that were more than double the cost of the ticket I thought I was purchasing - and more than the ticket would have been if I had gone directly to the airlines. This apparently happens often enough that travelocity has a standard form letter reply ready to shoot off to you, basically saying too bad. And try calling customer service - get a recording every time.

Don't trust Travelocity or their insurance-BerkleyCare!

I had a *Total Nightmare* with Travelocity!

I had to cancel a trip due to medical emergency (fully documented by my cardiologist). Travelocity was unresponsive and rude and though I purchased the optional travel insurance from their provider-Berkley Care-they did not honor my policy and would not work with the Better Business Bureau at all to resolve the matter fairly.

I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A TICKET FROM TRAVELOCITY AGAIN! Please know that their traveller's insurance is a total SCAM!

I almost always book my tickets online with Travelocity. I have not had any problems with Travelocity, and have been booking nearly all of my flights through Travelocity for the past four years.
**Hint***Using the flexible dates option when checking for ticket prices will almost always give you the best prices. You can choose where you sit as well as flight times. I can print my tickets electronically or wait until I get to the airport to have them printed out.
I will continue to use Travelocity for all my flight needs.

Absolute incompetence! Web quoted one price then service rep called and refused to honor price and increased it. They don't keep good (or any?) records of problems or pending solutions so I had to repeat the problem to every rep. Was hung up on more than once and you can't get back to the rep you were talking to. They could care less about service.
