eGroups (now Yahoogroups) is a necessary evil. Simply the most popular mailing list out there--but is it the easiest to use?
I set up a Yahoogroup for a club at my campus. I've been on the internet for several years, and I have no problem...

Pros: Easy to use Cons: Not so easy to access the site
I am a member of a group of ladies who all live in the same state as I do! This service that I use is called Yahoo e-groups, and it is quite a lot of fun.
When one person posts a message, everyone in the entire group gets the same message....

Pros: Free, has file sharing and database capability, archive easy to use Cons: Slow; stupid assumption that all adult lists are concerned with strictly male-oriented sex
The mailing list I moderate moved to egroups about two years ago after having problems with our old service. Egroups was a good service, but the few changes that have taken place since Yahoo! bought out egroups have been a mixed bag.
The first...

Pros: countless email lists to choose from Cons: difficult interface on the site
I found out about this site way back when it was called Onelist, and I was immediately hooked. I had been running discussion lists through a pay server, and suddenly Onelist opened the horizons to more easily manage a discussion list and best of all, to...

Pros: Was good as onelist, and as egroups. Cons: Yahoogroups(the latest to take it over) leaves a lot to be desired
Egroups, or onelist as it was known by before was fantastic... but all of a sudden yahoo has come in and taken it over and things have changed.
As yahoogroups has taken over onelist/egroups, things have quickly gone downhill.. Being a...

Pros: easy to access, great groups Cons: none in particular
Egroups now known as Yahoo Groups is one of the best sites I have come across. I belong to many groups ranging from military wives to epinions.
The site is easy to access. There are a wide variety of groups out there. As I mentioned I...

Pros: Reach an entire group with just one email, simple to use, FREE! Cons: Delayed group messages can be quite annoying
I discovered Yahoo Groups back in March 2000 when it was known as Onelist. A month or so later, the name was changed to eGroups. Then, in January 2001, Yahoo took over and the name was changed from eGroups to Yahoo...

Pros: Yahoogroups has email groups on every subject and interest for you to join and enjoy! Cons: They keep changing their name!
I've been a member of Egroups (now called Yahoogroups, formally called Onelist) for almost four years. Even with all of the mergers and changes it has gone through over the years, Yahoogroups is still one of my all-time favorite places on the...

Pros: Great Community Service Cons: You have to get a Yahoo! Id to use eGroups
eGroup is an email community manager, you can use it to create mailing list to send updates of your web site to members, or use it to communicate with a Group of your friends instead on using standard email's CC, or even Search for Help on a Given...

Pros: Tons of groups to join, easy to use Cons: Part of the "Yahoo" monopolization family, can be overwhelming
A few years ago I joined an eGroup and quickly unsubscribed. EGroups just wasn't for me. I didn't like the group I had been solicited to join and wasn't familiar with eGroups. I hated it. Recently, I joined several new groups and have had great...

Pros: Find groups with all sorts of interests and hobbies. Cons: Part of a "reading circle?" Epinions hates you!
This eGroups thing is a fine service. It's not as good since Yahoo! took it over, of course, but I'll talk about that later.
What eGroups is all about and why you should go there right now.
Well, go there after you read and...

Pros: bulletin board, files section, polls and an event calendar Cons: Yahoo!
With the purchase of egroups by Yahoo! came the depressing realization that the little fish can't compete with the sharks.
Yahoogroups did a relatively competent job of merging the two companies. However, unlike the merger between onelist and...

Pros: no spam, easy to use, very flexible Cons: ads on the mails
I stumbled onto this one a few years back and used it to build a e-mail network for our College Batch and am glad about it!
The basic principle is that any mail you send is automatically redistributed to all members. As members can log in and update...

Pros: great way to meet friends with common interests! Cons: Yahoo just took it over
Egroups is a place where people with common interests can join groups that post messages or chat. I first heard about Egroups at Epinions. The reason I joined was to increase the number of times that my opinions were read. The first group that I...

Pros: free, user friendly, chat, file sharing, links, etc. Cons: prone to inexperienced list managers which can make a bad group
Introduction
With Yahoo! Groups (formerly known as eGroups), anyone can have a mailing list. I’ve been using Yahoo! Groups since it was Onelist. I think that the two mergers within the last year or two (Onelist to eGroups, eGroups to...

Pros: Lots of features make each persons set of eGroups unique to them. Cons: An ad precedes every message set.
The first question people ask me when we discuss the internet is always, "Can I talk to real people?". Well, you can and this is one of the best ways.
Forget chat, this is more useful and moves as fast or slow as you desire.
