My husband suggested I check into one of two online post office type sites, one of these was stamps.com and the other was estamp.com.
The reason I choose to try stamps.com was that they offered $25 worth of free postage and one month service free. It sounded good to me!
Some of the perks of the service that I enjoy are:
1. Being able to buy postage online instead of having to run to post office for stamps.
2. Having the additional option of purchasing postage for priority mail online (which comes in handy for auctions and small items you need to mail).
3. Pre-paying for postage and having it at your fingertips.
4. Verify addresses automatically ---no more address undeliverable to those far off friends and relatives.
5. Online store to purchase supplies, such as labels.
6. No minimum or maximum usage required. You use what you need and whatever doesn't get used up is still there for the next month and then some.
The only thing I didn't care for was the fact that the envelopes had to go in a certain way (and this may have to do with the fact that my printer stinks sometimes). But, I have resolved this. Instead of printing on the envelope (#10, business size), I just printed on the labels and that worked out fine.
One more note, in order to use labels for the "stamp" itself on the #10 envelopes, you must use the fluorescent labels that as far as I know, are only sold by stamps.com (I paid $6.95 plus shipping for 150).
I did also receive a welcome pack that included some labels to try out.
I really do like using the service since my husband takes the car during the day, so I can't get to the post office. I still keep real stamps around the house for bills that come with their own envelope or for nicer looking cards that would really look funny with a computer printed stamp on it.
A great service for those who are online quite a bit since it requires you to be online to use it and also for those who have limited car time or would rather spend time doing something else instead of running to the post office before it closes.
