I was cyber surfing the net in search of online freelance writing jobs when I stumbled across this site. One of the things I noticed immediately was the high quality of the articles appearing on this website. I was so impressed with the site that I did indeed join it and submitted an application to become one of their contributing editors.
What I would like to know is how this site can offer so many services for free? In addition to members receiving a banner-free homepage, they may elect to utilize a free email account which can be accessed from any computer, send e-cards to friends and family members, develop and maintain an online management database, enter contest to win cash prizes, and join the site's affiliate program.
The ever-growing list of thousands of topics can be overwhelming to a newcomer on the site. However, by selecting only the topics a member is interested in a list can be created on their "My Stuff" page. By preselecting the topics of interest, navigation through the vast sea of topics and categories becomes more manageable. Once a member, users can search through the topics for articles and discussions that fit their interests.
The site's motto is: Real People Helping Real People. To date, the articles I've read from contributing editors have been thoughtful, informative and well-written. Although the contributing editors receive payment for their work, the focus of the site is not that of making money, but instead to provide useful information to the readers. Unlike the page view earnings of Epinions.com and OscarTech, payment to the site's editors is a flat rate; giving its writers a non-competitive and creative environment to craft their art in. The member audience of the site tends to be that of a kinder gentler community whose ratings are less cut throat than those of the page view earnings base sites.
My first impression of this site is very high. I am looking forward to spending time there reading, rating and writing.
