Ok, I do a variety of web design. Of course to get people to use me as a designer I need have people see my work. I need hits to my site baby! I've gone down the "submit to everything" road before, only to get maybe 10 hits and 4 million spam mailings. Not my idea of a a good way to get guaranteed traffic.

When I came across Click Thru Network, I decided to take a look. Another one of those "Guaranteed Hits" programs. Targeted advertising for my website. Sounds pretty good let me take a look. Upon entrance to the site, I see they have 3 ways to "earn" visits. I'll go through these individually.

1.) Surf for hits. Pretty simple, you go to their site, pick a category, and then pick a website. This will pop up a surf-bar type of window. You can keep it horizontally or vertically and it has a little voting option. Stay at the website that you're on for 30 seconds, pick a number to rate it and click "See next site" If you vote and stay there for 30 seconds before you vote you get 1 credit. 1 credit = 1 GUARANTEED HIT to your site.

2.) Adding HTML to your site (either small banner or large banner) There are 4 types of ways to do this. Put whatever link you choose from below on your site and when someone clicks on it, you earn 1 credit. If the person who clicks on it signs up to use Click Thru Network, you'll earn 5 % of their credits as well! These are the 4 types of links they offer


1. ClickThru Bonus Icons
Surfers stay longer on your site because they get bonus credits for finding this icon. You earn referrals when new users click. You have the option to put this on your site and issue credits for people who click your link (If they are a member of Click Thru) You can put this icon anywhere on your site, in a way, forcing the person visiting your site to go through the content and find that icon.

2. Banner Link to ClickThru Sample:
Choose from banner options that earn referrals by linking directly to ClickThru. More referrals, more credits. More credits, more hits!

3. Rotating Ad Banners Sample:
Get 1 credit per click for rotating ads and referral credit for ClickThru ads. Anywhere you put the banner ad, when someone clicks on it you get 1 credit.

4. Text Link to ClickThru
This will earn you credits and referrals when clicked on too.

3.) Win Credits

Click Thru offers games that you can play to win hits. There are 4 ways to win here.

1. Find a bonus icon on someone's site. You can win hundreds of credits this way. Most I've won so far at one time was 75 credits (75 hits to my site)

2. Sweepstakes. You can use the credits you've earned like a raffle ticket. There is a 1,000 credit prize given out at the end of the month.

3. Treaure Chest Game. Pick a treasure chest (10 levels of chests, credits go up according to level) and win credits. You can also lose credits here. It costs 10 credits to play.

4. Credit Thief Game. Steal credits from the "credit burglar" You can steal thousands of credits here too. It will cost you 5 to play, you simply pick a number between 1-100, if you match you win!

4.) You may also purchase credits for 10 cents each (if you want to pay, but there's no need to pay for anything here)

You also have the option to CASH OUT your credits. You can request at anytime, 1 credit equals 1 cent. It will cost you $1.50 (150 credits) to have a check sent to you.

How it works is simple. You add your URL to their database, pick the demographics you want to aim your website at and watch your hits grow. Since joining the site (1 week ago today) I've had 377 hits to 4 websites I have registered with the program. (you can have multiple sites and distribute the credits any way you see fit) This is especially convenient since I use it to drive traffic to my epinions partner site. Hits to your content partner site generate you cash. It also drives people to epinions and you may get some referrals from that as well.
