eFrenzy. Now who’s going to paint my house??
Overview:
eFrenzy is a new web site in preview mode. It is basically an auction site for services. If you are a painter and want to offer your services you can register and do so. Then, anyone wanting his or her house painted can find you (local or not) and you can bid for the ‘contract’
If you are looking for someone to paint your house, just do a search, narrow down the choices and pick the cheapest and highest rated service provider.
This is a great idea and can really help the little guy succeed. My only problem with this method of operation is the reliability and and other major factors when it comes to the “Service Providers”
Usability of site:
The site is well designed and easy to navigate all the questions I had were answered in just a few clicks. Registration is free and it was quick and painless. Service providers (sellers) register free also and there is no commission on either end of any transaction (for now)
The actual process can be long because they process your request (if a service buyer) and send you the results via email (or page post)
Ad meter:
None in site.
Does it work?
Sure seems to. I would rather pay Joe up the street half of what I would pay Sears to get my dishwasher fixed. Or to mow my lawn, wash my car or anything else I needed done in my busy life. This site provides a unique way for service providers to offer up.
And a good resource of savings and locality to those of us needing the service.
Does it help?
although it at first seems like this is a Godsend, there is a line to walk here and you must be careful.
First, you are not always guaranteed a professional. eFrenzy does not do background checks and anyone can register. This makes it hard to discern whether Joe really CAN fix my dishwasher or whether he is the next Homer Simpson or Jeffery Dalmer.
Bottom Line:
This site seems like a great idea and I am sure I am going to use it in one capacity or another over the coming months, but I do not think I would trust just anyone I found on this site. Be smart and do a little background checking of your own before hiring a service provider from eFrenzy, you could register as a service provider (seller) as easily as they can, and I know I CAN’T fix the dishwasher.
