Believe it or not the life of a Jedi is not an easy one. It’s not all about learning how to perform the Jedi mind trick with Yoda, or how to twirl a lightsaber with Mace Windu, believe it or not. There is a daily grind involved as well.
This Jedi had been working a position that was just sucking the life out of him. One of those jobs where you are promised all the potential, but in the end you really see very little shine through. The other day, it reached the boiling point, and I decided it was time to move on in life.
So, what did I do? The first thing I did was log onto Epinions and read reviews of the various job web sties out there. After sifting through review after review, it seemed to me that hotjobs.com was the place for me to start. So, I used my little Jedi fingers and headed on over to the hotjobs.com web site. What I found there was a site that was very easy to navigate.
The first thing I did was set up an account for myself. I provided them with some essential information, and in a little over a minute, I had my very own hotjobs account. In opening this account, I put myself on the fast track to finding a new and more importantly BETTER job. The next thing I did from there was to take a look at the various jobs that were at my disposal. I took myself over to their search page, It allowed me to select one or more types of jobs that I wanted to search the database for. It also allowed me to put in the location as to where I was looking for a job. With the click of the ‘Search’ button, I was given over 1000 jobs to sort through and look over.
In perusing each of these various job listings, I found a few which really peaked my interest. This is where the ease of hotjobs really comes in. I decided I wanted to apply to a few of these jobs. To do so, you can simply copy and paste your resume from Microsoft Word into the little window they provide you with. You can even add an HTML code or two to spice it up a little. At the click of another button, off your resume goes to the company that you are applying with.
I followed this process about thirty times on Monday. Tuesday morning, I logged on to check my email, and to write a few Epinions (of course), and I was greeted by several emails by a few of the companies whom I had submitted resumes to, asking me to call them to talk further.
So far I’ve been out on a couple of interviews courtesy of hotjobs.com, and I welcome the prospect of going out on a few more. It seems to me that the majority of the positions offered on the web site are of quality and are with highly credible companies.
Among the things that I like about hotjobs is the fact that they don’t allow headhunters access to your resume information. I made the mistake of posting my resume on Monster.com, and have had about 10 headhunters from all around the country throw the smack down on me. Hotjobs prevents that. The other great thing about hotjobs is the resume statistics feature. By clicking through to a link, you can view the stats on how many times your resume was looked at. It is a cool feature that I’ve been using as a real confidence booster.
I’m pretty new to this job search thing. It has become quite apparent to me thought hat the Internet is really helping to make the job search easier. Web sites like Hotjobs.com are there to be used and taken advantage of.and to be used to their full potential. They can really help to assist you in finding the dream job you’ve always looked for, or at least one of quality and substance.
So, as this Jedi attempts to make a career transition, he looks to hotjobs.com for a little bit of help and assistance. It is never easy looking for a new career. It can be a very straining and intense situation deciding on what position is best for you. Let’s face it a job is something that you have to do every day of your life. So you might as well try and find one which you can not only excel at, but one that you will actually ENJOY doing. I think that is very important. Web sties like Hotjobs can help you do this.
I continue to keep my fingers crossed for myself. But in the mean time, I give Hotjobs.com a big thumbs up for the help it has given me so far. It is a very easy to navigate site, that will have you up and searching in mere minutes.
If you have been searching for a new position for a while, or are relatively new to the hunt like this Jedi, surf on over there and give it a try.
…And if anyone of you out there would like to hire a Jedi in the NY area, drop me an email (tatoodjedi@aol.com), and I’ll let you know what kind of job I am looking for. I’m a hard working dude, who has this addictive little hobby of writing Epinions…what more could you want?
As always, thanks for reading.
