Club Photo is definitely ahead of the curve with the variety of features it offers users. Yes, it's easy to create and view albums, which is the foundation of any photo sharing site. But Club Photo goes the extra mile. It's taking advantage of the shift to sharing photos digitally instead of getting prints.
For $1 they will develop your 35mm film then let you choose which images you actually want prints of. There's no minimum order, so it looks like you don't have to order prints at all. For $1 you will get your negatives back and an index print (and choose those to post online). This could be good for those not satisfied with Club Photo's prints. I haven't tried the site's developing service and just recently placed my first print order. I'll let you know how it turns out. A 4x6 print costs 45 cents.
They also offer free software such as a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop or Photodeluxe to upload your images right from the program. They even have software for Palm users to display photos on their Palm device.
In addition to the usual photo mugs and aprons, they offer unusual gift items like the Photo Stone. It's a 10"x12" marble stone with a photo inked onto it that comes with a wrought iron easel for display ($125). They're smart enough to tell you the recommended resolution for all their photo gifts.
The design and layout of the site is pleasing and easy to navigate. Creating my "home" page was easy and the feedback I've gotten has been great. My album even has a counter so I know how many times it has been viewed. Guests can view an album by entering my email address or alias.
Of course the best part is it's free!
