I have recently seen this particular service reviewed as if it were a money earning program, quite often inaccurately even so. Imandi is better described as a shopping site, with a twist. They also happen to provide a referral structure that allows the opportunity to make money-however, when you read the fine print-the earning aspect is an incredible bust! (My apologies to anyone who opened this expecting to see breasts, btw).
How it works
Merchants list primarily services, and some products with Imandi.com. The categories provided are: HOME & LIFE, COLLECTABLES, TRAVEL, and SMALL BUSINESS. Most of these items are either very expensive (ie: Computers, copiers) or are service based (Internet service providers, insurance, maid service).
You, as a member may request "bids" from these merchants, by filling out detailed information regarding the product/service you are interested in attaining. The merchants may then contact you with pricing and other information to solicit your business.
Imandi basically matches up your request with merchants to give you competitive quotes from a large network of merchants on the web. This can save the consumer a lot of web surfing or phone calls.
"Earning?"
Imandi is much less favorable as an earn money site. Sounds great at first...
Members receive $5 in their account for each direct referral signup, up to $20 ($2 per after that). Second level: $.25, third: $.50, fourth: $1.00.
It is very easy to refer friends and family to sign up for a free service they can chose to use or not. I amassed a pretty good downline with this program and was very exited to my referral numbers climb quickly, however-this is not to say I "earned" anything.
**First of all, you are not credited with any referral money unless and until your referrals activate their accounts. They are sent a postcard in the mail with an ID number and an activation address. Not surprisingly, many of these initial referrals do not follow up.
**You must spend $250 of the first $1000 you earn by referring on purchases made through Imandi merchants.
**You receive nothing unless you make a request, and then you may only use your referral money if you purchase from a merchant that receives your request and responds.
In other words, using your referral money is very complicated, and only useful if you are using this service anyway. The products and services offered are not the kinds of things most people normally buy simply as a way to use your referral earnings.
I'm very disappointed in the earning aspect of this site, but in fairness, it is not an "earn money site". As a shopping site, Imandi has a lot to offer the consumer. Provided you are using Imandi as the site is intended, this is an extremely beneficial site-as it's service can save the consumer both time and money.
