I lay down on my bed, while my coal-colored cotton sheets ranged up to my waist. Gazing at the chalky ceiling, I noticed the dark air seemed thicker today. Depressed breath with a tinted atmosphere, my mother walked in.
"Hi mom." I greeted her.
"Um... honey… you know Sarah?" she pondered.
Mom clutched her hand to her face and over her eyes.
"Mom, what's wrong?" I asked.
She hastened out of the room in weep.
Now I'm guilt-stricken sobbing, with my head on the floor.
'Can't be held responsible. It wasn't my fault… Won't be held responsible…
I wish I could convince myself.
As I stood at the Church steps with a cup-full of rice, a distant coldness came over my body, which formed an emotional depression in my existence.
'Life would never be the same again… I will never be the same again…'

----------------------------------
I. Default
A. Overlook
X:drive is an Internet service which enables you to upload PC files onto a server for posterior storage. Consumers are granted 25 free megabytes (MB) and are able to increase the sum by referring friends or people who download (5 MB each), or calling upon the site over 10 times (10 MB).
You are permitted HTTP and/or FTP access; HTTP being transfer through web pages and FTP being transfer through software. Despite this, you are also allowed access to X:drive via your Palm VII or another WAP device.
B. History
"Founded in early 1999, X:drive is the first company to transform the Internet into a virtual Hard Drive. According to PC Data, X:drive is the largest Internet Hard Drive company in the world." - xdrive.com
II. Pros
A. 25+ MB
When you enlist, the company suffers you use 25 MB of their hard drive. Once you develop a repetitive visitor or refer/pester your family and friends to enlist, they will give you supplementary storage. For example, for every acquaintance you designate, they will entrust you a further 5 MB. If you visit the site 10 or more times, they will also give an additional 10 MB. The "repeated visit" offer is only redeemable once, though.
B. Variety
-HTTP
They bestow you HTTP access, but how sufficient is it? It seems rather leisurely to me. It may be advantageous if your software is incapable of performing, yet I prefer it to have the same caliber as a yeti which leaves off a horrible stench in the morning. You upload your files via a web page; much like a directory such as Angelfire, Tripod, RedRival, etc.
-FTP
I acquired the liberty of capturing a screenshot of the software in action:
http://www.epinions.f2s.com/images/xdrive.gif
This is a representation of software and Windows Explorer straining simultaneously. As you view, its software "glues" itself as one of your hard drives; thus enabling the "drag and drop" aspect. Hence its name, it will originate the illusion of an additional hard drive, called the "X: drive." Instead of traditional FTP, the software operates a decorated version with increased ease of use. Speeds are brisker than HTTP access, therefore deserving more merit.
C. Access
Whether you're on your Palm VII, PC, or Mac; you are recognized to access X:drive and all of your collective files. I detect the Palm VII alternative to be unnecessary, yet convenient. For example, I cannot uncover a time when someone would sincerely dial up on their cell phone to upload files. Though it seems unnecessary, it could also prove quite convenient if you are ever in need of your shared files for specific reasons.
As for PC and Macintosh users, their software comes in different platforms for added ease and convenience.
III. Cons
A. Slow HTTP
Now let's start X:drive-bashing. Slow HTTP access is one of the main detractors. For example, transfer through their web directory is frightful, but FTP access through the software is actually higher than adequate. Perhaps it is the use of poorly-designed HTML or high-bandwidth consuming customers, yet whether or not these are aspects in the HTTP designation of the web site are irrelevant. Poor design or poor system; it still is in their field.
B. Redeemable MB
It's rather simplistic. Referring/annoying friends and family can grow rather irritating as well as laborious. For example, in redemption of gaining more storage:
¤ Each Friend - 5 MB
¤ Each Shared User (Shared Files) - 5 MB
¤ 10 Repetitive Visits (Once) - 10 MB
After you accrue your 10 easy, redundant visits (logins), you will have obtained 10 additional MB.
Let's ponder this situation. 30 MB + 10 MB = 40 MB
-You are allotted a maximum of 100 MB-
100 MB - 40 MB = 60 MB
60 MB/5 MB = 12 Referrals
You must compile 12 additional referrals to attain your maximum. Despite the net worth of each MB (1.3 cents), would not you rather refer mankind towards Epinions and collect revenue?
«« Conclusion »»
Computer: Hello, X:drive; beneficial service upon which I view.
Xdrive: My sincere gratitude, Computer. Though I may cheat people, while offering them a net worth of 6.5 cents per referral; I feel I am beneficial.
Computer: I agree, X:drive. You have an impeccable service, upon which I am quite grateful to use my protocol to transfer over.
Xdrive: Thank you for the kind words.
Computer: Not a problem. Overall; your service is great, and I hope people to join and let the program flourish, though I do not condone the use of referrals. Refer people to Epinions and collect on their revenue, as it will pay you more than 6.5 cents overall.
Xdrive: Agreed.
