If you're looking for a play to stay, this web site travel service is the place to go. Placestostay.com contains information on hotels, resorts, bed and breakfasts, and other forms of lodging, from all around the world.
Basics of this Service:
Placestostay.com specializes in finding lodging accomodations. You can search for a place by performing a quick search, or an advanced search. For a quick search, you simply enter a city and state name, or a city/country combination. It then finds the available lodging. With the advanced search feature, you are given the option of narrowing down the selections by entering additional criteria, like the type of lodging you are looking for (hotel, resort, condo, spa, etc.); the available activities (beach, pool, casino, golf course, etc.); or the amenities (restaurant, dry cleaning, laundry, etc.). This area could be improved if they offered some more search options.
If you are looking for a destination in a particular country or region, but you don't necessarily want to narrow it down to one city, then you can simply select an area from the world map, on the home page. It then takes you to another map, showing the various countries in that region of the world. You can then select a country, from the map, and search for lodging. I like the fact that this site displays a map, rather than just a list of countries. This allows you to visualize exactly where you are going, on the map.
After selecting your area, a list of resorts/hotels will display. You can then click the resort, for more information. You can also view photographs of the resort, plus a detailed listing of basic data, like room rates, check in/out time, etc. Many of the resorts have a very enticing photo gallery, showing pictures inside each unit, plus scenic views from the rooms.
If you like what you see, you can then enter your desired date of arrival, and see if there are any rooms available. If there are, then you can make your reservation online. Please note that you cannot make a reservation until you set up an account with placestostay.com first. The account can be setup free of charge. They will ask you to enter your basic info, including a profile of your favorite places to stay. When you come back to the site in the future, it will display any special offers that are available, related to your favorite places.
Customer Service:
Placestostay.com offers 24 hour customer service. You can reach them by calling thier customer service phone number (it's not toll free!), or by sending an e-mail. You can make reservations, and check/confirm your reservations, 24 hours per day, also.
Closing Thoughts:
This travel service is pretty good, if lodging is all you're looking for. But remember that this is not a complete travel service! You won't find airfare information, rental cars, or any other travel information in this site. It's strictly a service for finding lodging.
This site would be better if there were more search options. Still, it's a good site, very easy to use and navigate and loaded with information on resorts around the world. I recommend giving it a try. The enticing resort pictures will make you want to get up, and fly away!
