Bowel movements are funny and always will be funny. Those of you who don’t think so are just in denial. Sure, if you have kids, you have to act like pooping and farting are not funny, or else you will have to hear about it all day long. For those of you who still find the humor in going number two, doodie.com is for you.
At doodie.com, animator Tom Winkler gives us a brand-new short animation every Monday through Friday. These very short, looping animations are always about someone taking a dump or poop-related visual gags.
When you visit the site, the new daily animation appears right in the middle of the page. There are no sounds to accompany these brief cartoons, so you don’t necessarily have to worry about who is around you. You can check out the archives for all of the fecal animations of the past, you can send an e-postcard of the daily animation to your friends and co-workers, you can even suggest a doodie cartoon (you forfeit any claims to the rights of your idea, though.) I have never viewed a doodie.com cartoon that is of a sexual nature, so that should not be a concern. Besides pooping, the only questionable content may be the occasional death of a cartoon character, be it an accident or suicide.
The website is free. Mr. Winkler would like to sell you a t-shirt, though. You can purchase the doodie.com fan package for $19.95 plus $5.00 shipping. This gets you a t-shirt (choose from two different styles), two bumper stickers and a refrigerator magnet. I have not purchased these items, so I do not know the quality. I am sure they are acceptable, though. You can see pictures of everything at the website.
I have actually seen some of Mr. Winkler’s animation on cable. I believe he animated a commercial for the Discovery Channel (or maybe the Learning Channel). This commercial was not doodie-related, but it was definitely his animation style.
There is a brief but informative FAQ list on the site as well, where Mr. Winkler explains the process and equipment he uses to produce his short animations. He also mentions in the FAQ that his website gets over 7,000,000 hits per month.
Whether or not you like the material presented at doodie.com, there is no denying that Mr. Winkler has talent. He is a former animator of The Simpsons, after all.
