HotJobs is one of my favorites. As opposed to Monster, which I view as a necessary evil, HJ has several attributes that place it head and shoulders above "the Monster."
1. HJ doesn't allow headhunters to post.. which eliminates many of the double, triple, etc posting of a single job by both the corporation and the agencies it is using to fill a role. This also cuts down on the "trolling" for resumes that some 3rd party recruiters do just to fill their databases.
2. HJ allows the candidate to "hide" their resume from viewing by particular companies. Unlike Monster's "confidential" setting which makes the contact info invisible to ALL recruiters (and is a huge pain in the ..)HJ allows its candidates to choose the member employers that aren't allowed to view the resume in HJ's resume database.
3. HJ allows for refreshing the date of the job so that in a search your company's jobs aren't on page 42 of the result list.
4. HJ allows the recruiter to add screening questions to each job to assist us in finding the best qualified candidates.
5. HJ is reasonably priced. The user company pays a flat fee per month for 20 job postings and access to their resume database. And a whole year of HJ costs less than JUST the resume database access to the Monster.
6. HJ has GREAT customer service. I normally loathe sales people, but I have to admit I am pretty fond of our rep.
My only suggestion for HotJobs is to increase their marketing. Monster has become a household name due to some strategic advertising plays. HJ could do the same with some innovative outside the box activities to increase their cache here and abroad. Obviously, benefits would be two fold, more member companies would sign up, therefore providing more jobs for candidates visiting the site.
