I'll be honest with you, I might not be in the best position to accurately criticize alladvantage.com mostly because even though I'm a registered user for about a year now, I STILL haven't been able to get this damn thing to work!
A friend of mine turned me on to AA - basically, you get paid to surf the net. You have to download a toolbar that automatically launches when you open your web browser. If you've ever been to a geocities web page you always get a second small window that opens up on you with advertisements. AA is the same concept only you have it there purposely and as long as you keep moving your mouse or do some kind of interaction with the web you get paid. Like epinions.com the rate is pretty low, like pennies per hour but if you're online a lot that can add up at the end of the month.
My problem is I have yet to see a freakin' CENT in my account. Why? Because I'm a Macintosh user and AA is VERY unfriendly to Mac. First of all, it took me about five tries to download the software. For some reason the AA web page is misconstrued so that every time you follow the links to download the Mac version you get taken in circles and never actually come to an ftp link to download it. I had to write to them to inform them of the error but they said I was doing something wrong but at least they gave me a link from where to download it from. So I tried, the first few times the connection timed out. Then the 4th time it downloaded completely but the file was all corrupted and unusable. Then on the 5th try it finally opened and that's when I found out all that time had been a complete waste.
If you want to use AA with a Mac you have to have a giant monitor apparently. When I finally got a version that would install, when I tried to launch it I got an error message saying "sorry, in order for All Advantage to run you must have a monitor of 800x400 [or some big number, I can't remember the exact specs.]" My monitor is a 13-incher and I believe all the new iMacs have a 13-inch screen, maybe 14. I doubt even iMac users would be able to get AA to work on their limited screen space either.
All Advantage also lets you sort of spam the net with banner ads and links in your email in effort to get more members to join. I tried this for a month - EVERY e-mail I sent to everyone had a signature on the bottom promoting AA with a link through my name. I also put banner ads on every single one of my web pages as well on my Yahoo and eBay auctions.
Nothing. Zip. Zilch. Bupkis. Nada.
So after a month of nothing happening it became clear to me no one's interested in AA anymore. Perhaps a few people did join through my click-through links but if so I didn't get any credit for it.
Another problem I have with this thing is that you don't get to choose your user ID, you have to take a six-digit number they assign you. What's frustrating that even this number is really just two 3-digit numbers, you have to click in two seperate boxes just to log in! Unless you use AA all the time you're probably not going to remember your password easily.
I just don't see the point of AA anymore. Apparently there's a cap on how much money you can make from the surfing aspect, like $25 a month or something. The real way to make money off this thing is by spamming your friends and family and getting them to join. And thenthey hopefully will get even more people to join and you get credit for all these new members. THAT'S MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING!!!! Arrgh! MLM is basically a triangle scheme that's legal. How AA is making money off this is beyond me.
So anyways that's my story of my experiences with All Advantage. It's just too much work for too little money. Not that epinions.com is making me rich but this is FUN to do. I could write reviews every day all day for the rest of my life only making 3 cents a hit and I wouldn't mind. Spamming everyone I know and wasting my precious web space with banner ads is not fun.
