I happened onto Mercata.com by accident while I was shopping for a double stroller. It so happened that there was a neat one on there, and it was going for really cheap, so I signed up. As soon as I signed up, I was given bonus dollars to spend towards items, which really impressed me. I wasn't sure how the whole concept works, but what I did know was the price of the stroller was dirt cheap, and I wanted it!
So that's how it all got started.... It turns out that Mercata is a really great place to find awesome prices on just about anything. I learned that it's sort of like a Sam's Club or a BJ's, only better! See, items are priced based on the number of people buying the item. When I first placed my "order" for my stroller, the price was $190, but that was still a great deal. Then I got an e-mail explaining that the highest price I would pay is the $190, but if more people like me ordered the stroller, the price could drop. In the end, it only costed me $170, so I was thrilled. Mercata gets a price break based on the number of buyers, and then they pass the savings on to you - it's great!!! There's a specified date that ends the PowerBuy, so you know how long you have to wait to find out the ending price of your item.
Another feature I just learned about is that you can suggest items you'd like to see on "Powerbuys" (Which is what they call their great deals).
The whole system is so easy to use, and I got my stroller in less than one week after the PowerBuy ended. I now use this a lot to buy gifts and things we need, and the prices have always been a steal!!
