Although I have only been working at my current company for only a year, I decided that I was ready to move on to better opportunities. My job searches in the past usually involved going through the help-wanted section in our local newspaper, and getting leads through business associates and friends. This time around, a friend of mine mentioned that she had posted her resume at HotJobs.com and had received many calls and requests for interviews. I decided to check out HotJobs.com and must say that I am completely impressed and satisfied with their service. As a matter of fact, only a few weeks after posting my resume, I applied for and was hired by a great international finance company.
HotJobs.com makes finding a new job easy. They have thousands of jobs listed at their site, and hundreds of more new jobs are added daily. Although HotJobs is similar to other job search sites such as Monster.com and others, they are one of the only sites that do not allow headhunters and recruitment agencies to post jobs. Therefore, you know that you are applying directly to real employers and not to agencies.
Through their job search engine, you can search for jobs by keywords, job type, job level, location and company. You can also choose to sort jobs by date or by relevance. If you don't have the time to search their site everyday, you can set up a customized job search agent. Your job search agent will send you daily e-mails with a list of new jobs that have been added that day, that meet the search criteria that you specify. You are allowed to have as many different job search agents as you want and you can edit their search criteria at any time.
Adding your resume to HotJobs is pretty simple. I was able to just cut and paste my resume from Microsoft Word onto their site. Once your resume is online, you can choose to make it available for all their member employers to view. You will also be able to immediately apply to job listings. You can also keep track of the number of times your resume has come up in searches, the number of times it has been viewed by a member, and the number of jobs you've applied to online.
HotJobs also has many other useful tools at their site. They have a section entitled "411 Career Tools" where you can find information and advice on relocating to a new city, benefits, industry resources, and career advice. They also host Internet & High Tech career fairs. These fairs are currently offered in many cities including New York, Chicago, Miami and San Francisco. At these fairs you will have direct access to highly competitive jobs from employers ranging from entrepreneurial start-ups to well established blue-chip companies.
In conclusion, I am happy to have discovered HotJobs.com. I found them to be extremely easy to use, and find that they have a lot of great employers as members. It seems to me that a large number of positions being offered are high-tech/internet type jobs. Nevertheless, they do have other type of positions being offered, as I was able to secure my new job, which is in the legal sector, through them. If you are in the market for a new job, or just want to see the type of opportunities available today, visit HotJobs at: http://www.hotjobs.com.
