1) Authenticity - do they give you the casino 'feel'? The ambient sounds really give the feel of being in the casino, especially with a good speaker setup or a good pair of headphones. The graphics look like 640x480 and 256 color, which is pretty good and will show up well on most computers that are relatively up to date. I give it Two Stacks for authenticity. If your computer can handle a better resolution then it looks better and will qualify for Three Stacks.
2) Games - fast loading, cool graphics, big jackpots? The games load fast, the graphics are pretty good, and the jackpots are OK. They don’t have all the great features that River Belle Casino has, and the graphics aren’t as good as the Jackpot Palace Casino’s are, but they’re OK. I give them Two Stacks since every game worked without a hitch and they have a ReBet button on the Roulette table. That’s a great feature.
3) Security - are they independently monitored? Is their payment system secure? All payouts are monitored by Price Waterhouse Coopers, and the results of their audits are posted at http://www.captaincookscasino.com/promotions/pwcNew.asp. You can open a new accout at Captain Cook’s with a credit card through Firecash, and their details are available at WWW.FIRECASH.COM/21325 . You can use a wire bank transfer ( and get a 15% bonus!!!) or use a certified check or money order. No personal checks, please. When you cash in, you’ll be able to use a credit card credit, wire transfer, wirexpress, or company check.
4) Customer Service - are they easy to reach? Do they offer telephone, email, 24/7 support? Unfortunately, their support web page didn’t load up when I tried to access it, so I’m giving them a ? for service right now.
5) Maximum payouts or minimum deposits - do these apply? There do not appear to be any maximums on deposits or payouts, but minimum payouts do apply for various payout methods. The minimum payout is $20.
Off to Captain Cook’s Casino to play some cards? You’d do well to get aboard this boat. They have a couple of great bonuses for new players, and you can get an extra $15 here, $40 there, or a bonus 15% on your deposit! Make sure you take advantage of as many opportunities for free money as you can.
It’s not immediately apparent how many new games you can load on this casino, but there are dozens! There are a couple of different kinds of slot machines and video poker. Most of the games that River Belle Casino has are available on this casino, and the look and feel is pretty similar to River Belle Casino as well. There is an Option menu on the main screen, and when you connect to the casino you’ll have the option to check for upgrades. They’ll give you additional games, better sound, and a few other neat tricks. Make sure you check it out!
If you have a good monitor and resolution, you can play the casino games at your standard resolution. The games look a lot better from that view, so make sure you try that out if you can. I noticed a big difference on my system when I did that. This is a great software package, and I’d use it whether I was using real money to gamble or whether I just wanted to try out a new gambling system.
Of course, the first game I went running for was Roulette. If you’ve read a couple of these reviews, you’ll notice that I tend to do pretty well at Roulette. This time, I tried a variation on my usual system and got cleaned out almost immediately. Good thing I was playing with the free software! You can check out different ways of doing things in that mode before you try it for real. Anyway, I found out that you can request additional chips with the click of a button. It’s a piece of cake, so I got another $1,000.00 and back in I went.
There are a BUNCH of cool video poker games. You’ve got Joker Poker where the Jokers are wild, there’s Deuces Wild (need I explain?), and a couple others. They all have the Double feature, which can be enabled or disabled as you choose. I liked that feature. I seemed to hit the double pretty frequently. Once I played video poker for a while, I went to the Craps table. I always liked Craps.
The Craps table has all the usual bets, and the online help is easy to use. Even if you’ve never played Craps before, I’d highly recommend downloading this easy-to-use package. It’s free, it’ll help you get started playing, and you can play for fun for as long as you like. You can even get a book on Craps and practice with this game until you get the hang of it before you play the real thing!
Cyberstud Poker is fun. It’s a lot like Caribbean Poker at Jackpot Palace Casino. It’s like poker without a draw, and the payout is based on BOTH whether you win AND what your hand is. It’s almost like a combination of video poker and regular poker. The straights pay out 6 to 1, so for my $30 bet I walked away with a pretty good piece of change. There’s no Doubling feature on this game, I guess that’s reserved for the straight video poker games.
There are a big group of slot machines available, and you can choose from a $.25 game up to $5 per pull. They have progressive slots for those of us playing for actual money, and they have regular slots for the real players and those just playing for fun. The progressive ones are great, because there’s a chance you could win enough money for a nice car with one pull of the handle. Or click of the mouse, as it were.
On the whole, this is a great casino. Once I got the video mode adjusted, the games looked fantastic. It took a little while for the games to download, but you don’t have to download all of them if you don’t want to. It’s easy to play, and the online help files are easy to follow. Make sure you take advantage of all the free money Captain Cook’s Casino leaves for you when you open the account and you should have an easy time walking away with more than you put in. Good luck!
