My experience with Proflowers.com was not as the purchaser but as the recipient. This being the case, there are some aspects of this company I cannot comment on, though I can comment on the product.
Receiving a dozen lavender roses for our anniversary was to be a pleasant surprise for my husband and me. The friend who ordered the gift was actually the first one to experience the surprise as the roses arrived at her door instead of ours. She checked all her information on the order and there was no mistake on her part, the order form and receipt stated the flowers were to come to me. Still, there they were on her doorstep. Seeing that we live less than 10 miles away from each other, this was a minor inconvenience and her husband dropped them off at our house.
The roses arrived at my house looking somewhat sad but still beautiful. I figured they just wanted some water and food. I have kept roses in the house before, caring for them was not something new to me, but I checked the directions anyway to be sure I was doing what was best. I dissolved the cut flower food in the right amount of water (even measured it to be safe), poured it into a clean vase, removed the lower leaves from the stems and made diagonal cuts so the flowers could drink freely, then arranged them just perfectly in the vase. I took the flowers out in the living room and my husband and I sat back and enjoyed the view on our table. It’s a good thing we did because we didn’t have much of a chance again.
Within two days the roses were looking pretty sad. I changed the water, giving new food with the hope it would perk them up. It didn’t. I threw the first one out that day. Three more went the next day. The other eight followed the day after that. Now, I like roses. Actually, I love roses. This means I don’t throw them out at the first sign of wilting. No, I wait until heads droop beyond hope and petals begin to fall. This is the state these roses were in after such a short amount of time. I have bought roses from the grocery store checkout line that lasted much longer than this.
I have read that proflowers.com guarantees freshness for 7 days. That means I still should have roses sitting here with me. Instead, all I have is baby’s breath (that actually looks pretty healthy). My friend and I were talking yesterday and I told her the flowers were gone. She stated she just was not happy with the experience and would not be using proflowers.com again. Based on what I have seen, I feel the same way. Our thoughts may change depending on how their customer service department handles her complaint but, until such time, I think I will stick to the grocery store checkout line.
