Have you seen the television commercial for proFlowers.com? The one where the lady working at her desk gets compliments for her beautiful flowers all week long, and even after ten days? Well, as far as I can tell, it's true! Seven days later..and we are still going strong.
proFlowers.com promotes itself based on the freshness and longevity of their flowers. They claim that all of their flowers are shipped directly from the growers to ensure that this is true. The company also absolutely guarantees the flowers to remain fresh for seven full days.
I received a beautiful dozen of assorted roses last Friday, as an early Mother's Day/Birthday present from my husband, who knows how much I adore flowers. The roses were delivered via FedEx, and were at the time of delivery, unopened buds. They were packaged with a cold pack to help keep them fresh on their journey.
The commercial I mentioned in the beginning of this review, was the reason that my husband decided to try this site. He was impressed with the freshness guarantee, and when he saw the prices, he figured he couldn't go wrong. He didn't.
For the purposes of writing this review, (yes, really), I questioned my husband on how much he paid for these lovely roses. At first he told me it was none of my business, but after I (ahem) told him I needed the info for my review, he did break down tell me he paid $29.95, plus a charge of $7.95 for delivery, which as I said, is done by FedEx. This is the fee for deliveries made Tuesday through Saturday. The charge increases by $5.00 on Saturdays. I don't know about anyone else, but where I live this is a more than excellent price for roses of this quality.
Delivery is done the following day, provided your order is placed before 12:00 Noon, on the previous day.
Well, I do have to tell you these have to be among the loveliest roses I have ever received. They are light pink, a darker shade of pink, white, yellow, peach, and red. They are complimented by sprigs of Baby's Breath.
When they arrived, they were buds. But after about two days they were open, and they are nice and full, and they look as fresh as can be after a week, just like the commercial says. I expect I will have them for a few more days yet.
The only drawback as far as I can tell, is that a vase is not included in the price. You must pay an extra $9.95 for a vase. However, if you have a vase around the house anyway, this is not such a big deal.
My husband says that the site worked quickly and was easy to navigate and place the order. Checkout was secure, and went smoothly.
When I went to check out the site for this review, they had a nice selection available of a variety of flowers and wreaths, etc., most in the range of $29.95-$59.95. There is also an area that displays any special offers or promotions that the site is having.
One feature that I think is kind of nice, is their "Ask Emily" feature. "Emily'" is a computer program where you punch in your occasion and desired price range, and "she" comes back with some options for you to choose from. This is perfect for someone who may be in a hurry, or a person who is unsure about which flowers are appropriate for various occasions.
Customer Service also offers a live chat, and order tracking/modification options. There is also a reminder service, and my personal favorite, a "Send-A-Hint" option. I like that one!
Some other nice features on the site are a flower encyclopedia, and flower care instructions. They also offer a free newsletter, I have not signed up for this, but would assume that it would include updates on specials and promotions, as other sites do.
A small banner on the site boasts that proFlowers.com is rated the #1 flower site by Bizrate, and Money.com. Based on our experience with them, I'd have to agree that they deserve this ranking.
So, if you want or need to make nice with your significant other, or just want to send someone special a nice picker-upper; this is a site that can help you do just that. proFlowers.com offers quality, great value, and of course, the guarantee of long-lasting freshness.
This one is a winner, and I predict that they will be around for quite some time. I give it my highest recommendation, as I sit here and look up at my own beautiful roses. As their slogan states, "Fresh from the grower to the heart." (Sigh), isn't love wonderful?
