Quite Possibly The Hardest Thing I Have Ever Done
Jun 14 '00
I have tried every diet known to man. I start the diet with high hopes but usually emerge frustration and a couple pounds heavier. Yo-Yo dieting and carrying a total of five children back to back did this to me. No,thats not true I did this to me and only I can undo it.
Liquid diets do not work. Pills given to you by diet doctors work for a short time then they cut off your supply and you gain it all back. Over exercising does not work. You break your body down and get sidelined.
So what does work?
Drinking water. This flushes the system and helps curb hunger pangs.
Moderate exercise. Walking, jogging and the exercise bikes are great for beginners. Start out slow.
Change some dietary bad habits. Skim milk replaces whole fat. Fat free mayo replaces whole mayo. Slight changes pay off big in the end if you incorporate into your daily life.
Figure out why you eat. Boredom? Try a new hobby. Stress? Maybe exercise or venting could be the answer. Habit or Learned Behavior? Talking to a friend or counselor could be invaluable.
Clean out the kitchen. Purge your downfalls when you feel comfortable doing so.
Reward yourself for goals reached.
Remember that having a piece of cake or a cookie is not the end of the world.
Losing weight is one of the toughest things a person can do. It is not about willpower. We need food to survive. You are not weak because you like to eat. You are human and we were designed to enjoy food among other basic things.
However you choose to lose weight be it a fad diet, medically supervised, or through a sound exercise and diet plan(which I recommend) congratulate yourself for the healthy step you are taking. And if you slip up just move on to the next day.
